Originally named Jo-Raquel Tejada and born in 1940, Welch spent her formative years in California, where she garnered titles in teen beauty pageants and eventually transitioned into a career as a local weather forecaster.
Welch rose to fame as a global sex symbol during the 1960s, gaining widespread recognition for her portrayal of a bikini-clad cavewoman in the 1966 film One Million Years B.C. But even though she was a sex symbol, she helped break the mold of the traditional female film character by portraying strong female characters.
Her achievements extended beyond the iconic role, as she clinched a Golden Globe for her performance in The Three Musketeers in 1974.

Death
On February 15, 2023, Raquel Welch passed away due to cardiac arrest at her residence in Los Angeles. She was 82. The actress was also grappling with Alzheimer’s disease at the time of her demise.
